Survivors Stories
CHILD WITHIN By Vickey Bills

To my child of yesteryear
The one I hold so dear
Let me wipe away your tears
And take away all those fears

Who or what could you be today
If only they allowed you to play
Instead of being caged all day

You keep hearing all they had to say
About the child of yesterday
Can't you see it was all lies today
For all children are smart and,
beautiful in their own way

They ripped you up and tore you apart
never caring what was in your heart
Or ever once telling you, you were smart

They only told you you're dumb, ugly, and weak
Your nothing more than a freak
So you grew timid and meek
To afraid to even speak

For the lives you've touched in a special way
Have nothing but love for you today
The kind of love that can never be taken away

Now your out of harms way
And your trust I want today
I will not let them come and take you away
And I will never push you away

Perhaps maybe we could learn to play
And we could start today

Written in 1992. 12 years after getting out of the home
where the abuse occurred. The abuse and molestation lasted for 13
years in the home. Starting at the tender age of 6 and going on until the
age of 18 when I was able to leave the home, and after years and
years of therapy. I am a SURVIVOR.... Vickie Bills
